Lebanese Restaurant

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2009

This week Mark and I went to a fancy restaurant so that we had dinner instead of lunch. This time was different, very different, we went to a Lebanese restaurant, the one closed to Malaysian embassy. While waiting for Mark, i met Chris and Victoria and their kids stopped by. I like the conversation we had and little catch up. I'm glad the kids called my name. They remember me, yay! I love to have them meet my nieces, they must like each other a lot, but i wonder how to do that. My nieces speak Khmer and French, while Charis and Ilana speak English....

Honestly, I have never heard about Lebanese and i've never seen the flag even once. Now i got to eat at a Lebanese restaurant and saw their flag.... i think it's a strange flag with a Christmas tree.
The place was nice and fancy, but the food was so different and strange, it was not too bad at all though.
We sat on the rooftop where was an open space. The sky was about to rain, it was windy and cold. I love the before rain weather a lot :-)

Adventure in the caves

SUNDAY, JANUARY 18, 2009

Hey I am not doing privacy, I am holding my camera trying to take a photo of the entrance cave in front of me.

I just had an adventure last week in Kampot province. I went to caves in two mountain which
was an amazing experience that i have never done before.
The caves i went to are in two mountains. Caves in Phnom Chgnok (Phnom Chhnork as it written in Lonely Planet book) are the most impressive, and Phnom Sor (Phnom Sorsia as written in quidebook).

Phnom Chgnok is from Kampot about 10km. Take the road to Kep and veer left after the short one way section. There are local kids guided us with a torch, however we brought a few of ours which are better than theirs and they loved our torches.
Phnom
Sor is another cave complex 13.5km from Kampot.

If you wanna go to the caves, don't forget to bring a torch, good mountain boots, and stay diet at least two weeks before then. Because the holes in the caves are small and you have to crawl like a lizard.

It was a wonderful trip and experiences, that i hardly can describe by writting. So now you see the pictures........... I know you will say wow!

Many kinds of animal on the road

TUESDAY, JULY 29, 2008

It is annoying! Most of the times when i leave my house to work both in the morning, and in the evening back from work. There are many animals on the road. I like animals but this situation is quite irritates me. Not only i have to stop my car and let the animals pass through, sometimes they hit my car and sometimes they even scare me.

Fortunately, i usually go back home at night because after work i have a class. However, if i leave my house at 7:00am and go back home around 5:30pm to 6pm i will stuck by the animals.

Look at these pictures that i took in front of my house! There are cows, sheep, goats, dogs.

This additional photo is my breakfast this morning. I know it's not healthy food, but this morning i out of idea of what to eat :-(

Chili Ice Cream... Weird!!!

WEDNESDAY, MAY 07, 2008

I already met Daniel’s girlfriend Brandy on the night at Ryan’s post birthday, but we didn’t talk much as I met many of our friends there. Many people many conversations. It was good that Daniel asked me to have lunch with him and Brandy so that we could talk more and got to know more about each other. We had our lunch at Java Café where was a western style and expensive. Nevertheless, I’ve been there three times already. First, at the night they launched new menu and it was free. Then was the first time I hang out with Daniel after met each other at our gym after a few days. That night, it was also I first met Ryan. Second time I went to Java was when Daniel and I went there for a cup of coffee and Daniel picked up his Christmas Cookies.

On the same day in the evening, I went to dinner with Mark at a NGO’s restaurant names Rom Deng – Khmer Creative Cuisine. The food was great, service was good, atmosphere was nice but the value was expensive.

The food we had was delicious but the dessert I had was weird…. Yeah it was that was why I ordered it because I want to know more about it than its name on the menu.

It was Coconut Gelato with Pineapple and Chili Sorbet. What? Ice cream but chili? It was not spicy though, it was sweetless and sour. I didn’t like it a lot, anyway.

Forgot to mention about the price. This crazy ice cream was 4$. I would rather eat Swensen's Ice Cream which would be only 2.50$. Anyway, it's a NGO's restaurant i'm fine with that.... hope all the income they get will go for their charity purposes.

Rainy Season

TUESDAY, MAY 06, 2008

It's funny. We left the all cars' doors opened to dry up from the inside because last night there was a flood everywhere and it was so much water.
I was stuck in the middle of a crowded and flood road. I could not move and my gas was running out. The flood and gas could kill my car engine any minute. Fortunately i made it to a gas station and got home safely.

I will remember not to leave the gas empty again plus whenever there's a flood and crowded on the road, i would rather stay in the office until at least 7PM then i'll go home.

1500 Monks & 3 Religions

THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 2008

My house is closed to a pagoda which i call a strange one. The pagoda combines three religions together, Khmer, Chinese and Vietnamese.

The pagoda doesn't celebrate or practice common activities as the other pagodas. They have an event once in a while but big one. It has been a week already that this pagoda doing something i don't understand and i don't know what are they doing. Interestingly, the people get in to the pagoda they have to dress up in white and have a yellow scarf around the body.
They play the traditional musics almost a whole day and night. It's weird that they start the loud sound at 4:30AM every morning. I have been woke up at that time for a week already. In the evening from 5:30PM to 9PM that i'm home i'm still be annoyed by the loud music and voices......... Please!!! when will they stop? I heard there will be 1500 monks come to the pagoda for offering ceremony, but i haven't seen any monk yet or because i've never been home ha ha

Thousands of candles have been lighten and maintained everywhere over the place
