What Mixed Culture Wedding Should Do

I attended a wedding that the groom is French and the bride is Cambodian. The dinner reception served with yummy food and music as normal as others.

What was interesting the most, the Khmer Dances Performances that i would say all the mixed cultural wedding in Cambodia should do.

Press Conference of MotorCross 2010

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2010

Today I attended a Press Conference of Total MotorCross 2010 at Total Olympic Station in the afternoon, which the actual race will be held on 27th February this Saturday.

The racers are from various country internationally, including Cambodia.

I used to do a lot of presentation, cultural-dance performances and even fashion show. But those were in classes and school events. This is my first time to give a speech in public that there were many audiences, TV reporters and journalists. I was pretty nervous before then, but once i got to sit on the stage, everything become way normal. However, i'm not satisfied with my speech. I did not do a good job enough :-(-:

Eurotech ISO Certification

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2008

Firstly, let me express myself. I am thankful for you, my friends who always care to keep update with me as well as reading my blog. I appreciate that!
I am excited to write this post about my best friend Jerry (actually he's my nephew), of his achievement and the success of his business. I am so proud of him as a young businessman, or I may say "businessboy" (",)

On the 27th of December, he arranged an event at Phnom Penh Hotel. It was about his company Eurotech Drinking Water is certified for ISO 9001:2000, the International Production Quality

So sad that I could not attend the event, because on that day I had to go to Siem Reap to attend another of my nephew's wedding. However, I helped him for some tasks also. We always help each other, and treat for lunch or dinner. Anyway, it's not about treating but we just love to hang out. hehe. Most of the time I help him with graphic designs, and he helps me for IT. That are our specialists of skills :-)

My Scottist best friend Daniel, also involved in the help for the event. During the event, they played a video of their production at their factory, which in the video Daniel was a presenter. The video was made about one year ago, but we just got to see it now. It is funny that in the video, Daniel was sounded in Khmer language. Please see the video at the below of this blog.

Now let me give a brief description about the event agenda:
1- The event starts at 4PM for guests registration
2- GM of the Eurotech company gives a welcome speech and begins the event
3- During the reception, there were performances of singing, dancing and catwalk
4- Guests can join fun games to win some prizes
5- GM gives introduction of the company, products and ISO certification
6- Withdrawing lucky draws, there are 50 prizes. The biggest prizes are Refrigerator and 29" Color TV

Alright, now enjoy the photos and videos below with description!

During Jerry's speech, he showed the video of Eurotech production on a large screen. You can see the video(s) on the bottom of this blog.

The guests had chances to win a prize out of the 50 prizes. The prizes included Refrigerator, 29" TV, Cooler, Cookers, Digital Cameras.....and so and so.

In the middle is Mark, my friend and GM at my company. The pretty girl on the right, is Jerry's youngest sister in law.

Do you notice the standee picture at the back? It's me and my sister. hehe.
There are many of my pictures everywhere during the event. Those standees, will be placed in front of shops in Phnom Penh after the event.Yay!

There were girl models performed catwalk and showing Eurotech's products. In the next photo, is the Singaporean man from ISO organization giving his speech in English and Chandravy translating. She is Jerry's wife. Not forget to mention that she's pregnant, yay! I will have a grand nephew!!! (@.@)

During the reception, there were singers and dancers performing to entertain the guests.

X-mas, Wedding, Hang out with many of my relatives

FRIDAY - MONDAY, DECEMBER 26 - 29, 2008

Well well well.... what to start first? Over the week, i had a few occasions in a row.
Firstly, it was on Friday 26th, I went to Victoria and Chris's house for a Christmas party.

After work i left my office at 5PM, stop by Lucky Shopper Market to buy some drinks and cookies for the party. Everyone knows that driving in Phnom Penh is annoying, irritating and frustrating. I was patient enough drove to a bank to withdraw some cash from ATM for next day trip to Siem Reap. There were many people waiting in a long line, I gave up and went to another bank. Unfortunately, my car battery died and i could not start my car. Luckily, Cambodians are nice and kind, they helped me connect my battery to another car's battery so that i could start my car. It was a funny evening, I could not find Cox's house and got lost. It was not a good evening, but also a lucky evening, anyway. I was saved again! I met Jim and he took me to Cox's house as he was going there too.

Alright! Now it's a good time! It was fun to meet many friends and new friends at the party. We had lots of food, played some games, told story about Jesus and so on.

Erin and I were in the same color. Looking twin :-)

Secondly, I went to Siem Reap on Saturday 27th to attend my nephew's wedding. It was a big wedding which took for the whole two days. However, elders were supposed to attend the whole wedding, but young people always have fun hanging out together. haha.
Once we arrived Siem Reap, the elders went to the wedding, but some and the youngs started to hang out. We went to the Musium, it is a nice and modern musium. I suggest everyone goes to Siem Reap should go to the musium.

Look at the wedding cake!!! It's the biggest wedding cake i ever seen.

Traditionally, the groom's parentes offer 32 kinds of fruit to the bridge's parents.

Guess what! I have so many relatives who live in Cambodia and abroad. I don't know all of them. It was a great chance attending the wedding, I met many of my relatives who i never known before.
In this picture are all my nieces and nephews. I am just a young uncle who is proud to have many nieces and nephews and they are beautiful and handsome! Among them, are from New Zeland, USA and France. However, they are good kids and proud to be Cambodians. They love their relatives, their country, their people....... They love their root!!!

Anyone knows which one is my hand? Well.... the one with two beauty spots :-)

This is Barkong temple where is 10km far from the town.
Standing at the back row are my cousins who are the parents of the front row who are my nieces and nephews.

I can play many kind of sports and activities, but i'm not good at them. Just can play haha.

Me and my nephew Kheing who studies in France.
I did enjoy hang out with my newphews. They are nice people and love their relatives, especially their nice uncle, Spencer. haha

We went to play pool, table tennis then we went to foreigner town where there are many restaurants and pubs. I don't drink beer or wind, but soft drink. They are understood people and don't force me to drink. We went to a pub, sitting in a outdoor table, drinking fruit shake and talking. I do like outdoor restaurants.

We hang out there until 1AM, we went to mart and bought some drinks and snack to our hotel and play card until 3AM.

Next day, we got back to Phnom Penh, and I invited all of my nieces, nephews and their parents to my house and had a big dinner in our garden.

Alright! that's all about the weekend. Hopefully, i will have a good time with friends and family on the New Year Eve. Then more photos and story to share on my blog. Keep updating ;-)

P.S: I already bought a new battery for my car (",)

Eventually, i got to NLF again this Sunday with my friend Miss Sim. She agreed to come and skipped her class hehe. I picked her up from her school and head for the church. I did not meet many of our friends today, but Cox's family. It was a good weekend that we got to the church, had lunch with Cox family, coffee with Jerry and his wife, then i had family BBQ at home.

It was specially today at the church. We had many exciting and anergetic songs, and khmer opera "La Kaon Basak" about the birth of Jesus Christ.

100% Hip Hop

THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2008

It became a habit that Mark and I have dinner together every Thursday. We try different restaurants and different food. We went for Indian food, Khmer Creative, and this Thursday we went for Malaysian but the place didn't look encouraging enough so we went to Vietnamese near there.

The food was good and similar to Chinese food. After that i went to Chaktomuk theater to see the 100% Hip Hop that performed by three groups. Two were Cambodian groups and the last was French.

It was impressive and i'm so proud of my people. We have many of our great traditional dances, and we also can perform well the Hip Hop which is the recent popular western dance.

I liked the second group a lot. They danced for about 15 minutes and every second they caught every single audience's attention and impression.

I will give more information about the performances and the dancers under each photos below.

Nadork the Cambodian group was on the first performance. Danced about 10 minutes in Monkey style Hip Hop. This group is quite famous and they have performed for many occasions, that included Cambodiana Beach Party in March 2008.

Second Cambodian group which i hate myself for could not remember their group name. I like this group very much. In their performance, they showed many interesting styles and every member was so great.

This kid was so funny. He spoke French a lot to a foreigner sit next to me who doesn't speak only English. The kid talked none stop and play a lot to the guy, but the guy could only laugh at him. The kid call him Papa, and he hid then popped up said "Oh la la" all the time (like hide and seek game). The English man wondered what were the boy talking about.... and i could understand some only according to my poor French language. However, the boy was a good kid, he stopped playing when the show started. And he played again during the break.

Now enjoy the video.

Cultural Night

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2007

Last night the 18th December 2007, I went to Cultural Night on the Occasion of the Launching of Indonesian Cultural Center (ICC) at Chaktomouk Theatre.

I didn't know that we were allowed to bring a camera in... just as soon as the show started and people started to taking photos, I immediately ran to my car and grabbed my camera hoping to take many photos and post on facebook he he.

Gamelan Composition "Ojo Dumeh" is a Javanese language means "Don't be arrogant" or "Don't take it for granted".

Javanese Dance "Kebyar" describes the spectacular of the stars at night.

Khmer Dance "Mani Mekhala" in a drama Mina Mekhala is the Goddess of Water on her golden abode, where her duty is to protect the ocean. On her journey to visit Vorachhun the King of the Divinities, she met an ogre and he's trying to get her golden abode.

Balinese Dance "Pendet" it is usually performed in various celebrations in Bali to bring joy and happiness to the people. While dancing they bless the audience by throwing flowers as well as Khmer Blessing Dance.

Singing Khmer song "Arapya" this song people sing it at the weekend as they are happy for the holiday. This is Cambodian dresses, look so gentle and beautiful.

Javanese Dance "Bondan Sayuk" this dance describes the love of a father, a mother and their child which is followed by gentleness, coolness, and harmony in a family.

Khmer Dance "Peacock" this dance is said to bring happiness and prosperity to villagers. For that reason, as we see in the region of Pailin, where it is known for precious stone mining, the dance is performed during the New Year or at special occasions as it is called for.

Additionally, this is me in the "Coconut Dance" in my second year at university. It was embarrassing to me due to the technical problem of the Music CD we played, it messed up our dance.
