Wat Phras Pun Rearchea

SUNDAY, JANUARY 27, 2008

This Sunday I went to a pagoda with my family and some relatives. The pagoda names "Phras Rearchea" it's at in Ta Kmao province. We need to take a ferry at Sam Pan pagoda. After crossing the ferry we will arrive the other side of the river which is Sa Ang village. From there to the pagoda it will take about 15 minutes.

This pagoda is under construction. There are two huge statues of Buddha. One is 21 meters high and another one is 45 meter. There is another one will be built at 72m high.

Kinda scary ferry though.

I almost touch this snake... i didn't see it was there.

45 meters and 21 meters statues.

Best Man at the Best Friend's Wedding

SUNDAY, JANUARY 06, 2008

My best friend Jerry's wedding and this is my first time to be the best man at the wedding. A lot of works to do, changing dresses, keep smiling all the time and welcome all guests.

Firstly, we had to arrive the bride's house in the early morning at 4:30am. I knew we would not have time for our breakfast once we got dressed. So Daniel and I sneaked out to a place where we could have our breakfast. While eating Jerry telephoned me once and then his mother called again. We had to finished our breakfast quickly, brought our coffee back to the house and drink in our room.

It was my first time to put on this kind of dress. However, i felt nice and proud of this Cambodian dress.

The groom and the best men

My niece Vanthy (the groom's sister)

I have no idea what are these ladies looking at, but they look happy.

The second dress in a hair cut session. Parents and relatives take turns to give the groom and bride a hair cut. One thing i don't like about this second dress is that i look have a big belly.

My parents cutting the groom and bride's hair.

I am playing and dancing with the couple who represent as a divinity and an angle. Actually i was called to do so by them. It was so funny and everyone laughed a lot.

This table is where the guests will contribute their money. Average amount would be 20$ up to 500$ or more, it depends on how good relationship between the guests and the groom, bride or their parents. Some guests who are rich and willing to help, they would contribute a big amount. It could be money or assets.

The third dress, looks gentle and nice. As the best men, we had to welcome the guests and hand them out a wedding souvenir.

The fourth dress at the cutting cakes session. I love this fourth dress. Men in White!

Me and the bridesmaids. Tow of them are my nieces. I'm a young uncle :-)

Finally, the bride and groom walked down the aisle and be pelted with foam, flowers, party string stuff. They went up the stage and each of them gave a speech. Then they cut the cakes and feed the parents. The end of the party was dancing!!!

Here's a short video.... enjoy! (",)

New Year 2008

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2007

I used to hang out with my relatives and friends over the night until AM for a few times, but I’ve never hang out to countdown for a New Year before.

This year I happened to celebrate the New Year Eve with a few friends. I thought Cambodia doesn’t celebrate but I was wrong. There were many people at the parks and the river sites. The fireworks were also nice, there were two places where the fireworks came from. One were from the other side of the river that were the state’s fireworks and the other were from the Hotel Cambodiana.

The Hotel Cambodiana had a New Year party which an entry ticket was 69US$. At the party they had a special show that there were a several body builders flexing their muscles and dancing on the stage. Daniel and I laughed out loud when we saw Polo and Ronny on the stage (Polo is my personal trainer, Ronny is Daniel’s).

Hey don’t you think we were at the party! We didn’t go to the 69US$ party, but we watched the show on TV ha ha.

To take this photo with the texts behind, we had to stand in the middle of the road… hey wait a minute!.... I didn’t know Daniel’s hand was in my pocket! What was he trying to get from my empty pocket? Wa ha ha. I’m joking hope he doesn’t mind.
Daniel is wearing the shirt I bought for him from Singapore, and I’m wearing the shirt he bought for me as a Christmas present. It’s funny but good to have a friend who has the same attitude and like, so that it’s easy to know what gift you should buy for them. Actually, he also had another gym shirt for me and I also had another gym short for him. We like all our presents ha ha.

Family Time on the Beaches

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2007

Everybody’s life has been too busy. We don’t have chances to be with everyone of the family at the same time.

I just came back from Singapore for the company’s works. And then I had to pack again for going to Sihanukville with my family for two days. I’m note complaining about the packing, I’m glad that we had this chance to go to the beaches with our family.

I wish I had taken a photo of my family’s dinner at this expensive restaurant, but I have this photo instead ha ha.
The restaurant is “Le Vivier de la Paillote” at this restaurant there are also a motel, bar and swimming pool. We met a French family whose sons go to the same school with one of my nieces. He was running around the pool and fell down almost fall into the pool but I was quick enough jumped to get him. I was a hero ha ha, Nah!

The French family’s dog Nia, she’s a good dog. She liked me.

We are building sand castles
