Valentine in Cambodia is Good or Bad?

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2008

Cambodian has been influenced by the foreign cultures over the years. Since the last few years, Valentine's Day is celebrated mostly by the young people.

ADVANTAGES:
1- Young people today know how to show their love to their parents, sisters or brothers, friends, and boyfriends or girlfriends. They buy flowers or gifts and give it to the people that they love and respect. Most people consider that day as a special day for their lovers only.

2- Valentine's day is an occasion that some people can make more money. Last year one of the flower stores at Central Market sold more than 10,000 roses only on one day. One rose is only R1,000 but on the Valentine's Day one rose is R4,000.

DISADVANTAGES:
1- Some you people don't exactly know what love is, but they just fooling around buying flowers and give to each other. This looks crazy and no value to love.

2- Some girls mis-understood once they receive flower from a guy. And she become proud of herself.

3- Most classes at school are quiet because many students skip their classes to hang out with their boyfriends or girlfriends.

4- For some lovers, go to a hotel or guest house on Valentine's day. This is very bad and the wrong choice for girls. It is the worst impact on Cambodian Cultural. Most foreigners want to have a Cambodian girl to be their wife, because of the reputation of Cambodian cultural. Now what? Cambodian Culture may no longer be unique!!!

Lunar New Year 2008

Tuesday, February 07, 2008

Chinese New Year is a special occasion that all our families and relatives come together.

Usually each year, everyone comes to the grand parents' house. This is nice that we can meet all our relatives on the day. It is more fun for the young people, because they have this chance to know some of the relatives that they don't usually meet and to get to know those. Moreover, the married relatives give red boxes to the singles.

This year i got quite many red boxes, and enough to help me to pay for the gym for four months.

Martine's Birthday

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 03, 2008

It's my niece Martine's birthday. I had Mark my friend from Arizona come to have lunch with my family at my house. Mark will come to work for my company in March. This is interesting that we have known each other for many years, and now we will work together.

Now back to the birthday thing! I used the re-lighting candles for my niece's cake.... it was funny that she tried to blow off the candle light and it keep coming back until she gave up ha ha ha
